Empowering Social Entrepreneurship through Education the Case of Al-Quds University
(Al-Quds University, 2023-08-27) Rasha Anton Hanania; رشا أنطون حنانيا
This study looks into the role played by universities in Palestine empowering social entrepreneurship. This study aimed to investigate the influence of AQU 's role as a case study in fostering social entrepreneurship and empowering social entrepreneurship among its students. The study uses an analytical descriptive method as it's best suited for this research topic. This method focuses on describing, analysing, comparing, and assessing to form general ideas that boost knowledge and science. Data and information needed for the study came from two places. The first is a custom-made questionnaire that helps examine the search criteria, and the second is a review of past studies and writings on the topic to form a theoretical framework. The researcher used a questionnaire to collect primary data from a sample of 585 students, 95% of the questionnaires were retrieved. The study identifies six independent variables based on previous research and theoretical frameworks, including curriculum and education, incubation and acceleration, research and innovation, partnerships and collaborations, awareness and outreach, and alumni network and support. The results indicate a statistically significant effect between the independent variables, and the dependent variable (Empowering Social Entrepreneurship). There are statistically significant differences in the level of empowering social entrepreneurship among students in Al Quds University due to some of the characteristics of these students, specifically their age, the college where they are studying, and academic level, but not their gender. Specifically, age, the college, where the students are studying, and academic level have statistically significant effects. In this case, we can see that age, the college where the students are studying, and academic level have a statistically significant effect on these variables on the level of empowering social entrepreneurship among students in Al Quds University. On the other hand, gender does not have a statistically significant effect. The study recommends that AQU and other universities in Palestine develop courses and programs that focus on social entrepreneurship, encourage collaboration and networking, provide resources and funding, foster a culture of innovation, and partner with local organizations. Additionally, the study recommends that universities consider incorporating social entrepreneurship topics into their curriculum, such as impact investing, community development, social innovation, corporate social responsibility, public policy and social entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and international development, social entrepreneurship and education, and social entrepreneurship healthcare.

To achieve the study objectives, a correlational design was adopted, the study population formed of owners/managers and employees of industrial companies in the North West Bank; applied to six governorates these were Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarm, Salfit, Tubas, and Qalqilya. The researcher developed a questionnaire as the primary tool to collect data and distributed the questionnaire to a sample of 282 participants by using convenience sampling. Then, data was gathered and statistically processed using the SPSS. The study delivered several results, the most important of which were: that CSR towards customers had the largest implementation level among CSR dimensions with a high degree. In addition, the correlation between CSR and sustainability was highly positive and statistically significant. Moreover, there was a statistically significant impact of CSR dimensions on environmental sustainability in which both CSR towards employees and CSR towards the community were significant predictors of environmental sustainability. While, social sustainability was affected primarily by CSR toward employees, CSR toward suppliers, and CSR toward the community. The results yielded both CSR towards suppliers and CSR towards community were significant predictors of economic sustainability. Furthermore, there were significant differences among the means of study sample towards the impact of CSR on sustainability attributed to demographic variables (company age, number of employees, and industry type). In light of the study results, the study recommended incentivizing CSR behavior by facilitating investment and offering fiscal policies such as tax relief. Enhancing cooperation and networking among various civil society organizations, the private sector, international and donor agencies, and United Nations entities to guarantee a real and fruitful development process. Raising awareness through publications and supporting local products through campaigns. Upgrading the Tourism Value Chain for Enhanced Hotels' Competitive Advantage in East Jerusalem
(Al-Quds University, 2023-01-03) Mahmoud Salem Ali Iriqat; محمود سالم علي عريقات
This research aims to investigate the role that upgrading the tourism value chain plays in enhancing the competitive advantage of hotels in East Jerusalem and to identify the key challenges and opportunities associated with this strategy. The study population comprises individuals, encompassing all tourists who lodged in the 26 hotels located in East Jerusalem at the time when the survey was conducted. The sample size was 384 tourists; however, the researcher was able to retrieve 203 responses. The main instrument used by the researcher to gather the data for this study was a questionnaire. Data were gathered and statistically processed using the SPSS program and the AMOS program for the structural equation modeling SEM. The study produced a number of findings, the most significant of which was that the competitive advantage of hotels in East Jerusalem is significantly affected by the tourism value chain. It was found that three out of the main five strategies used to upgrade the tourism value chain have significant impacts on the competitive advantage of hotels in East Jerusalem. Those strategies are service quality, product differentiation, and sustainability practices. In contrast to the previous studies, the remaining two strategies, which are customer relationship management and innovation and technological adoption, didn’t significantly affect the competitive advantage of East Jerusalem’s hotels. The unexpected result was attributed to the specific nature of tourists visiting Jerusalem, seeking to explore the ancient city and likely spending limited time within hotel premises. In this context, the available technology may sufficiently meet their needs. This observation holds true for CRM as well, as these tourists, driven by a desire for cultural exploration, may prioritize external attractions over forming long-term relationships with specific hotels. The study underscores the need to tailor management approaches in East Jerusalem, acknowledging the unexpected outcomes in customer relationship management, innovation, and technological adoption. Recognizing that these factors may not be the primary drivers of competitive advantage in the hospitality sector, hotel managers and policymakers are advised to explore alternative avenues for enhancing the overall visitor experience. The recommendation is to prioritize the integration of local culture, historical authenticity, and personalized services aligned with tourist preferences, as this approach is deemed more effective in gaining a competitive edge. In light of these findings, the study proposes a paradigm shift in marketing strategies, urging policymakers to develop campaigns that authentically showcase East Jerusalem's cultural and historical attributes. Additionally, policymakers are encouraged to incentivize and regulate the adoption of eco-friendly practices by hotels to further enhance the destination's appeal.

Using big data for Enhancing competitive strategy: The Case of Dairy in Palestine
(Al-Quds University, 2023-06-11) Ala Ibrahim Mohammad Awad; الاء ابراهيم محمد عوض
This study aims to clarify the impact of big data technology on the competitive advantage of Palestinian dairy companies. The descriptive and interpretive approach was used to achieve this study's objectives. A comprehensive survey was applied to the study population, which numbered 15 dairy factories. The sample of the study included the five largest dairy factories in Palestine, namely Al-Junaidi Company in Hebron, Al-Jabrini Company in Hebron, Hamouda Company in Jerusalem, Candia Company in Ramallah, and the dairy factory located within the Arab Project Company in Jericho. The researcher prepared a questionnaire to obtain the necessary data for this study, and the data was collected and processed statistically using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences SPSS program. In addition, questions were developed for interviews with employees of dairy companies, and the data collected were analyzed using the VRIO model. The study reached several results, the most important of which are: data collection and analysis helps companies increase their competitive advantage because it helps to know the market more, know customers' needs more accurately, and monitor competitors in the market. The results also showed that no dairy company adopts a department dedicated to data collection and analysis using modern methods and that there is an insufficient understanding among employees about big data technology and its importance in increasing competitive advantage and market share. In light of the results of the study, one could recommend the need to carry out awareness courses and workshops that could help employees to learn about big data technology. It is highly importance to learn how to deal with big data that every dairy company should own a specialized department for collecting, processing and analyzing data using modern methods.
