The current study concentrated on the phenomenon of poetic sparks in the poetic life of Ibn Nabata. The research focused on the abovementioned important phenomenon that distinguished Mameluki poets’ era in general and Ibn Nabata in particular. Despite the fact that he has a number of long poems in the divan, he limited those poetic sparks to praise of achievements and feats especially those of kings, statesmen and other contemporary poets. The study was based on the core hypothesis that the reason for the popularity of poetic sparks in the Mameluki era was its close connection with its themes despite the fact that the themes of the previously existing phenomenon in ancient Jahiliyya poetry were different from those in earlier eras. The study mainly adopted the analytical descriptive method as well as the statistical method in order to reveal titles and subtitles under which the poetic sparks appeared in his divan in preparation for classifying them in this objective study. As for the selection of examples that portrayed the themes of these poetic sparks, they were analyzed following an artistic study with regard to language, style, artistic imagery and music. The study concluded that poetic sparks are exclusive to Ibn Nabata who excessively produced and composed them especially in social poetry that is connected with public life. The poetic sparks may be considered as integrated poems in terms of artistic structure as well as the mastery of Ibn Nabata of the themes he addressed within the layers of his poetry.
