dc.description.abstract | The study aimed to investigate the role of safety and quality management in enhancing the performance of Palestinian medical laboratories in response to the implementation of the third goal of the sustainable development goals. To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical approach was used because it suits the reality of the study, and a questionnaire was designed divided into two axes, where the first axis included safety and quality management. In medical laboratories that apply ISO 15189 standards, which in turn included five dimensions: (infrastructure, employee training and competence, safety and quality management systems, process control and improvement, compliance and risk management). The second axis included enhancing the performance of medical laboratories, and included: Five dimensions: (laboratory resources and infrastructure, safety management practices, quality management practices, disease and risk management, satisfaction with services provided by medical laboratories), and the study population consisted of all medical laboratories operating in the West Bank, which numbered (461) laboratories, amounting to The final sample for the study was (183) laboratories on which this study was conducted. The study used a comprehensive survey method for the study sample. The study found that the reality of safety and quality management in medical laboratories that apply the standards of International Standard 15189 was good in all its main and subsidiary dimensions and with a high degree of application. It also turned out that the reality of enhancing performance in medical laboratories that apply the standards of International Standard 15189 was good in all its main and subsidiary dimensions. Good and with a high degree of compliance, and it shows that there is a high degree of satisfaction with the performance of medical services provided by medical laboratories in the State of Palestine. It also shows that there are many main factors that affect safety and quality in medical laboratories in the State of Palestine, and it shows that there is a positive moral relationship between the axis Safety and quality management in medical laboratories that apply the standards of Specification 15189 and its relationship to enhancing the performance of medical laboratories. Based on the above results, the study came out with a set of recommendations, the most prominent of which is spreading a culture of comprehensive quality among all workers in the health sector in general and the medical laboratory sector in particular, in accordance with international standard specifications. And work to raise the level of quality of medical laboratory services operating in the State of Palestine, and encourage medical laboratories to obtain accreditation from International Standard 15189 for the quality and efficiency of medical laboratories and make it mandatory. Increase attention to the preventive aspect, and provide personal protection requirements for workers from work accidents, as it plays an essential role in enhancing the quality of medical services. | en |
