Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the role of extra-curricular activities in developing the innovative thinking in the subject of "science and life" among students of the higher basic stage from their teachers' perspectives in the Directorate of Education in Hebron, and to achieve the study aims, the researcher used the descriptive method. The study was applied on the first semester of the academic year 2019-2020 on a random sample consisted of (312) science teachers. The researcher conducted a questionnaire in which Its validity were investigated via through presenting them to a group of qualified educational arbitrators, while reliability was calculated using reliability co-efficient equation Cronbach alpha with a total degree of ( 0.757), the reliability for the first .aspect was (0.73), whereas the other one was (0.737) The study revealed that the role of extra - curricular activities in the development of innovative thinking in "science and life" among the students of the upper basic stage from their teachers' perspectives in the Directorate of Education in Hebron is high, with a mean score (3.8) and standard deviation (0.38). Statistical processing was used such as means, standard deviations, independent t-test and One-Way ANOVA. The results revealed that there are no statistically significant differences in the arithmetic mean of the role of extra - curricular activities in developing innovative thinking in science and life among the students of the higher basic stage from the their teachers' perspectives in the Directorate of Education in Hebron, according to the variable of (gender, experience, educational qualification, the number of courses the teacher has acquired in this area, age, school location, and whether it is a male or a female school). According to these results, the researcher recommended using extra-curricular activities in teaching science, training science teachers to use extra-curricular activities in order to develop the innovative thinking.Also to hold workshops for science teachers in using extra-curricular activities and how to implement them in developing the innovative thinking for new teachers especially those with purely disciplines of physics, chemistry, biology and science.
