Abstract
The study aimed to shed light on the reality of social responsibility in its dimensions (organizational, social, and environmental) in private sector institutions and its impact on sustainable development, the researcher took the Jerusalem District Electricity Company as a model in her study.
In conducting her study, the researcher relied on the descriptive approach, and the study population was determined from the employees of the Jerusalem District Electricity Company in addition to some groups benefiting from the projects and activities of the company's social responsibility. The interviewer used the corresponding researcher as a tool for her study, and an intentional sample was chosen from the study population. The sample that is able to answer the study questions and that owns the decision of social responsibility in the Jerusalem Electricity Company and works in projects and activities directly related to this field, in addition to its ability to talk about the reality of the company's activities in a broad and clearer manner, in addition to parties outside the company who may have benefited from the activities the social responsibility of the company, and the researcher conducted (17) interviews.
The researcher concluded in her study several results, the most important of which are: The presence of weakness in the application of social responsibility in all its dimensions (organizational, social, and environmental) in the Palestinian private sector, as the study showed that the least applied dimension of social responsibility in the Palestinian private sector is the organizational dimension. The absence of social responsibility with its environmental dimension in the Palestinian private sector, which is what the researcher explains after clear procedures on the environment or its pollutants, and the study concluded that there is a strong relationship between the application of social responsibility in all its dimensions in the private sector and achieving sustainable development.
Accordingly; The researcher recommended several recommendations, the most important of which are: the need to amend laws related to labor and workers in addition to developing
new, updated and binding legal legislation in this field. The researcher also recommended that private sector institutions, through the application of their social responsibility, define priorities and needs according to their importance to society, and work on Achieving these needs through its social responsibility clauses.
