Abstract
The study aimed to reveal the reality of the services and programs provided to persons with intellectual disability in accordance with the standards of the Council for Extraordinary Children (CEC), from the point of view of workers in Palestinian special education institutions. Of them, an available sample of (120) individuals, of whom (83) were females, (37) were males. The researcher used the descriptive approach to suit the nature of the study.
In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher built a scale consisting of (6) dimensions, namely (vision and mission for centers and institutions for people with intellectual disabilities, management and workers, evaluation and diagnosis, educational programs and the individual educational plan, the educational environment, support services) and distributed into (76) paragraphs with reference to The standards for the American Council of Extraordinary Children and their translation into Arabic have been validated and validated.
The results of the study revealed that the total score for the level of quality of services and programs provided to persons with intellectual disability according to the standards of the Council for Extraordinary Children (CEC) in Palestinian special education institutions. (CEC) from the employees' point of view, it reached (3.87), which is a high degree, as well as all the axes of the questionnaire, except for the sixth axis, which is the axis of the educational environment.
The results also showed that there are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α 0.05) between the mean scores of services and programs on the scale of the Council of Extraordinary Children’s standards due to the variable of gender, academic qualification, years of experience, type of institution and the governorate variable.
While the results resulted in the existence of statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α 0.05) between the mean scores of services and programs on the scale due to the variable of the institution type in favor of charitable societies.
The researcher recommends the need to develop the services and programs of special education institutions in the West Bank in accordance with international quality standards. She also recommends creating the appropriate educational environment conditions for the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities
