dc.description.abstractHealth organizations act towards quality through improving the quality of health care services and to achieve patients' satisfaction. Aim: This study aimed to identify the extent of implementing the primary health care standards and its relation with sustainable health development at non-governmental health organizations in the southern governorates. Methodology: The sample of the study consisted of 64 healthcare providers (36 doctors and 28 nurses) and 15 patients from the six health centers of the Union of Health Work Committees in the southern governorates. The study utilized mixed method of quantitative and qualitative design. For quantitative part, the researcher used self-administered questionnaire (developed by the researcher), and for qualitative part, the researcher used constructed interview with patients. A pilot study was conducted on 30 participants to examine validity and reliability of the questionnaire, and alpha Cronbache coefficient was 0.852 for the primary health care standards and 0.891 for sustainable health development. For data analysis, the researcher used SPSS program (version 22), and statistical analysis included frequencies, mean scores, percentage, (t) test, and One-way ANOVA. Results: the results of quantitative data showed that the mean age of study participants was 35.55 years, 56.3% were doctors and 43.7% were nurses, 48.5% have bachelor degree, 39.1% have an experience of 11 years and more. The overall mean score of implementing the primary health care standards was 4.36 with mean percent 87.2%which is very high, and the overall mean score of sustainable health development was 4.42 with mean percent 88.4% which is very high. There was statistically insignificant relationship between implementing the primary health care standards and sustainable health development. The results also indicated that there were statistically insignificant differences in implementing the primary health care standards related to gender, age, years of experience, qualification, and job title. Also, there were statistically insignificant differences in perception about sustainable health development related to gender, age, years of experience, qualification, and job title. The results from qualitative data from patients' perspectives revealed high satisfaction from healthcare providers, quality of health services, environment and structure of health centers. Results from Key informants reflecting acting towards development of health services, development of healthcare providers, expansion and diversity of health services to include primary, secondary, and tertiary health services. Conclusion: The results reflected implementation of the primary health care standards and sustainable health development to very high extent. 1
