Abstract
This thesis aims to study the impact of Israeli occupation practices and the corresponding governmental measures on citizens' desire to visit the Old City in Hebron. In order to achieve this objective, both descriptive and inferential approaches are used. A questionnaire is built and distributed to a sample of 305 visitors of the old city in Hebron during October 15 and November 1, 2020. Results indicate that the occupation practices are pushing citizens to avoid visiting the old city in Hebron. Findings also indicate that the availability of service centers (municipality departments and government departments), the existence of economic facilities represented by the decrease in the price of services and products provided in addition to the sense of responsibility towards visiting the old town and holding of events, play an important role in encouraging citizens to visit the Old City of Hebron. With regard to demographic variables and their role in influencing the desire to visit the Old City in Hebron, results show that the desire to visit the Old City in Hebron is positively affected by age. Results also show that people with an income of 2,500 or less are more likely to visit the Old City than those with higher incomes. Based on these results, the study recommends continuing to hold events, provide economic facilities and provide services due to their positive impact on the citizens' desire to visit the Old City in Hebron.
