dc.description.abstractThis study examined participation of the Fatah movement in the first legislative elections in 1996, and their participation in the second legislative elections in 2006, came the first legislative elections as a result of the Oslo Accords, Fatah won most seats in the Legislative Council the first (68) seats out of (88) seat that did not participate where most Palestinian factions, unlike the second legislative elections in 2006 characterized by participation of most Palestinian factions. Legislative Council first considered a resurgence for the first experience of parliamentary democracy, to build the institutions of the Palestinian people liberated parts of the land of Palestine, in the light of the experience is unique in the history of liberation movements in the world. Where elections were held presidential and legislative elections in light of the continued Israeli occupation in the cities of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The objectives of the study and justification in the serious attempt to evaluate the performance and the role of the Fatah movement in the Council despite the obstacles and difficulties exerted by the Israeli occupation to Council members and prevent some of them to attend meetings of the Council, despite the many obstacles could present the Council with a majority of Brigades to enact several laws and legislation, and to prove himself on the Palestinian, Arab and international despite the recent experience in front of the parliaments of neighboring countries. The importance of the study of how the transition a smooth transition and flexible after the martyrdom of President Yasser Arafat and the receipt of authority to the President of the Legislative Council, and then the election of President Mahmoud Abbas, which won the admiration of the world democracy and fair elections and the transition smooth and flexible.
