Abstract
يحلّل هذا البحث بشكل نقدي الخطاب والصور التي استخدمتها الـ CNN على موقعها الإخباري على الإنترنت لتمثيل الرواية الفلسطينية في حرب أيار/ مايو 2021، والرواية الأوكرانية في الحرب الروسية التي بدأت في شباط/ فبراير 2022. بما مجموعه 899 خبراً لكلا الروايتين، موزعة على 594 خبراً عن أوكرانيا، بمقابل 305 خبراً عن فلسطين. وتم تحديد الفترة بالأيام الأولى لكلا الحربين. وإلى جانب الأخبار، تم تحليل عينة ممثلة من الصور الرئيسية التي نُشرت على الموقع الإخباريللـ CNN، والتي بلغت 10 صور لكلّ رواية. يهدف البحث إلى دراسة الخطاب الذي تستخدمهالـ CNNوكذلك تحليل أُطُر تغطيتها، وتحليل الصور سيميائياً. تساعد نظرية التأطير والسيميائية المرئية في توجيه البحث الحالي لتحديد الممارسات الخطابية التي تستخدمها وسائل الإعلام الأمريكية الرسمية. يجمع الإطار النظري المستخدم لإجراء هذا البحث بين نهج فان ديك لتحليل الخطاب النصيوطريقةبارتللتحليل المرئي. تشير النتائج إلى اختلافات في أنماط تمثيل الـ CNNللروايتينفي القضايا المتشابهة، ووجود نوع من التحيّز في التغطية، وتعرض جداول التحليل النوعي طبيعة هذا التحيّز. كما تكشف النتائج أن الرواية الفلسطينية تم تصويرها بشكل أساسي من خلال إطار "الصراع" و "النزاع" بين طرفين. فيما الرواية الأوكرانية تحت إطار "الغزو الروسي". تعكس هذه الفروق على نطاق واسع تأثير المواقف السياسية للدول على تغطية إعلامها لقضايا الصراع.
This research critically analyzes the discourse and images used by CNN on its news website to represent the Palestinian narrative in the May 2021 war, and the Ukrainian narrative in the Russian war that began in February 2022. With 899 news for both narratives, distributed over 594 news About Ukraine, in return for 305 news about Palestine. The period was defined by the early days of both wars. In addition to the news, a representative sample of the main images published on the CNN news site, which amounted to 10 images for each novel, was analyzed. The research aims to study the discourse used by the CNN, as well as analyze its coverage frameworks, and analyze the images semiotic. Framing theory and visual semiotics help guide current research to identify discursive practices employed by official US media. The theoretical framework used to conduct this research combines van Dijk’s approach to textual discourse analysis and Barth's method of visual analysis. The results indicate differences in the patterns of CNN representation of the two novels in similar cases, and the existence of a kind of bias in coverage, and the qualitative analysis tables present the nature of this bias. The results also reveal that the Palestinian narrative was mainly depicted through the framework of "conflict" and "dispute" between two parties. The Ukrainian novel is under the framework of the "Russian invasion". These distinctions broadly reflect the influence of countries' political positions on their media's coverage of conflict issues.
