Abstract
The study aimed to identify the role of Islamic Jihad in Palestine and its efforts during the previous period, the current period and the changes that affected the Palestinian cause, highlighted the positions of the Islamic Jihad party on national issues, in general and on the file of the Palestinian division in particular and the most important stations that this file went through. The study used the descriptive analytical approach in addition to the realistic and qualitative approach, the role theory and the forward-looking approach to suit the nature of this study. The main results were: The Islamic Jihad considers that the pillars of Palestinian reconciliation should be based on the principle that the first and last enemy in the conflict is just the Zionist enemy and any Palestinian dispute is marginal and should be urgently resolved. Any effort made in the context of the internal conflict is a national crime for any people who are still under occupation, and Palestinian bloodshed is a red line, also the Palestinian division is considered as a second Nakba after the 1948 Nakba because of its disastrous implications which can destroys the Palestinian national project. Islamic Jihad tries as a central national force to play an honest role in achieving reconciliation between the conflicting parties, However Hamas and Fatah did not respond. The most important recommendations were: The need for the Islamic Jihad to maintain its balanced and acceptable position on the issue of reconciliation on the basis that a quiet national dialogue among all Palestinian parties will ultimately lead to end the division and achieve a national partnership. The Islamic Jihad should seek to form a lobby from the Palestinian factions which exclude the two sides of the division to work with a greater momentum to find new viable mechanisms which can achieve the Palestinian reconciliation, also to achieve integration in the national work and to address against any plans and challenges that plague the Palestinian cause.
