Abstract
This study aimed to identify the role of women in managing family companies in the Palestinian community. This study was applied to a group of family companies that work in various economic fields, as the data used in this study were collected from previous studies and literature review، and the study adopted the descriptive analytical approach، in order to shed light and explore to what extent family companies activate the role of women to access to senior positions, participation in decision- making, and to succession, through interviews with 8 companies from the top management، and distributing (100) questionnaires to family companies located at the west bank area. The results indicated that، despite the slow progress and low percentage of women representation in senior management positions، they did not reach their goal in obtaining equal opportunities with men in assuming higher managerial positions that enable them to participate in decision-making، and that the family still believes that women should work hard on her personal qualities and characteristics further to increase her chances، at the same time family shows positive orientation to provide all of the support and motivation necessary for her. And also some results indicate that there is still slow progress with regard to the merger of the succession chain in the family business toward women، as it is not possible to assert the existence of equitable equality in this regard with the man and the woman.
