Abstract
The current study aims to identify the Grammatical Performance of the eleventh grade students in Bethlehem Governorate and its relationship with the degree of their possession of literary appreciation skills. The population of the study consisted of all the eleventh grade students (3842) at the governmental schools in Bethlehem Governorate during the first semester of the academic year 2020/2021. The researcher selected a cluster random sample which represented (295) of the population of the study. The descriptive approach was adopted to achieve the goals of the study. Two tests were prepared to collect the data of the study. Moreover, the collected data of the study was analyzed by the (SPSS) Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. The results of the study showed that the degree of the Grammatical Performance of the eleventh grade students in Bethlehem Governorate was low. Also, the results of the study showed that the degree of the eleventh graders possession of literary appreciation skills in Bethlehem Governorate was moderate.
Moreover, there were statistically significant differences in the degree of the Grammatical Performance of the eleventh grade students in Bethlehem Governorate due to gender in favour of male students. Also, there were statistically significant differences in the degree of the Grammatical Performance of the eleventh grade students in Bethlehem Governorate due to the academic stream in favour of the scientific one. Moreover, there were statistically significant differences in the degree of the eleventh graders possession of literary appreciation skills in Bethlehem Governorate due to gender in favour of female students. Furthermore, there were statistically
significant differences in the degree of the eleventh graders possession of literary appreciation skills in Bethlehem Governorate due to the academic stream in favour of the scientific one. In addition, the results of the study showed that there was a relationship between the Grammatical Performance of the eleventh grade students in Bethlehem and their possession of literary appreciation skills. In the light of the findings, the researcher recommends Arabic language teachers in Bethlehem to focus on the Grammatical Performance of the eleventh grade students in Bethlehem Governorate and their possession of literary appreciation skills Finally, the researcher advises other researchers to conduct more studies on the same subject using different variables in other districts in Palestine.
