Abstract
This study highlights the leading role of the University of Al-Quds in supporting and supplementing the Palestinian health sector by various medical and health specialists. It also aimed to assess the appropriateness of the various medical specialties produced by the Al-quds University to the needs and requirements of the local labor market. The data was collected from the records , publications and websites of Al-Quds University of Jerusalem, and the Palestinian Ministry of Health and some operating health institutions and centers situated in Jerusalem city. A questionnaire was developed for the aim of evaluating the appropriateness of the medical and health disciplines offered by the University to assess their suitability and coverage level to the needs of Palestinian labor market. It was randomly distributed on a sample of 290 graduates currently employed in the public and private health sector. The second track has been testing the suitability of courses of specialization –theoretical and practical courses- ,and the contribution of each course in developing skills required to deal with public. Set up by each college administration. It was found that the courses ranked a high degree of suitability to Palestinian market needs, but much effort is still awaited. Finally hypotheses examined reflected general agreement of the sample selected around the results concluded by the study , except for the nature of the work. In other words, the views of the study sample may agreed on the level of appropriateness to degree of specialization to the needs of the labor market, despite the differences in specialization and college personnel, the nature of work, level of experience and career. But differed about their suitability because of the different nature of the work The researchers, therefore recommend that more moral and material support to Al-Quds University is still needed in order to enable it to continue supporting the local community qualified cadre. They also suggest further and regular amendments to plans, and textbooks may be needed to make the specialization degrees more convenient to the requirements of the Palestinian society and the labor market
