Abstract
"The influence of the Zionist lobby on the American foreign policy toward
the Palestinian cause"
What this research paper discusses somewhat is a historical and analytical
displaying of the Zionist capacity and the sources of its strengths which became
influential factor in the American foreign policy in regard to the Palestinian
cause, and what this influence has reflections that harmed the Palestinian cause
because of no American neutral perspective and the absence of a parallel Arabic
powers which equal the Zionist- lobby's influence which caused the American
drift for it.
By studying the influence of the American Zionist lobby in the American
foreign policy toward the Palestinian cause emerged several positions for all US
administrations, these positions came out in several historical points whose the
most important was the position of U.S.A toward the Israeli occupation for
Palestine in 1948 and 1967. And its position in many issues and events which
occurred with the Palestinian people, which totally were responding to the
Zionist lobby.
Through a detailed study to the lobby phenomenon and its activity and by what
has been recorded of notes collected to serve in proving theories which
previously researched by another writers or researchers , and which concluded
that the dominance of the Zionist lobby reached a point like this one as a result
of different ramified reasons and positions the most important of them is the
situation of the organizations and many individuals which form his lobby or
help this lobby from one side, and the policies which were in the US formal
consideration from another side .
There are limitations for this study in which events and interactions were
concentrated, regarding the timing element the lobby's activity was open and
extensive and not limited in short period of time, it increased and extended by
time passage, especially after 1967, its location is Washington as a center of the
American political decision making or the legislations in the Congress.
The essence of this paper relates to an existing relation between the U.S.A and a
lobby which distinguished and preferred by its administrations over other
internal powers, which facilitated the activity of this lobby, this issue developed
from the periods from 1948-1967 in forming of a joint-interests relationship
despite the difference in the strength of the US interest in such a relation and
developing it even before or after establishing Israel.
Even that there are some US moderate positions occasionally and superficial
ones in another times toward central elements of the Palestinian cause as Jerusalem and settlements , US founded a sequence of political activities by
initiatives to achieve a settlement , seemed to be out of the UN resolutions in
concern to the Palestinian cause under a desire no perception realized from them
except offering solutions that do not satisfy some side who rejects it so it
collapse , and again it reshape in a new form and again blocked under another
justifications , even that a formal Palestinian acceptance for some American
initiatives paid them for light the Israeli formal side faced them by violation
after accepting them for some period as a tactic, the aim of it showing Israel as
a democratic and peaceful state.
Important Results This study proved that the Zionist lobby occupies this position of influencing, by the way which the formal American administrations dealing with, by which the main concern of the decision makers inside it is their personal position initially. As well as the availability of the political and economical capabilities of the Zionist lobby which lead them to use their formal and informal activities in a permanent dependence on the Jewish vote and money, through it they has the fresh background for moving around. The role of the Zionist lobby expands because of two dimensions of its relations with the American administrations by the clever exploitation for these relations and capabilities, and as a result of the absence of a similar Arabic influence to the activity of the Zionist lobby. No ability of any American honest interference that comes out with a just and everlasting solution as well as the Zionist lobby has an influence on the American foreign policy toward the Palestinian cause.
