This study discusses the road network within Bethlehem city boundaries. It explanes the current situation and its future. As the road network considered the main and the only means of transportation road network in the city, the governorate, and in the whole country in general. This means that it is the only means of transportation in the city. The study was excuted to describe the current situation and to review the future. It clarifies the traffic problems within the city boundaries and foucus on the traffic problems related to the sutability of infrastructure services available within the city boundaries, or the road transport network and problems related to road cracks, and traffic problems associated to road width and space detictated for public parking to discrib the current and the future situation. The study aims to identify the general characteristics of the public road net in the city, and to know the evolution that has been accured in terms of the development of the areas allocated to housing use during the last few decades. It also evaluates the adequacy and efficiency of the transport network to meet the needs of the community. The study also aims to classify types of roads and to clarify factors affecting land transport and to monitor the most important urban problems experienced by the city and the network, traffic jams, accidents and environmental problems . To achieve the previous objectives, the study adopted the descriptive analytical methodology to identify the general characteristics of road transport Network in the city and the changes in its plan, area and streets, it Also seeks to clarify factors affecting the transport network. At The same time the study, make use of data and information collected from the field by the researcher from different spcialization parts by using of geo-research techniques in drawing of sections, and geographical and cartographic maps. The study cuncluded after analyzing the data available from primary and secondary sources, that the city area increased during the period 1995-2018 by 28% of its plan in 1995. The Streets area increased by 34%. It found that the road network lengths are about (944887 km),which constitute 13% of the city area. It showed that the gradient of the roads ranged between (1-12.5) degrees. The study showed that the main routes are parallel to the contour linesm while the secondary routes where vetical somewhat to the contour lines. The study showed variation in the width of the main roads which ranging between (11-20 meters) and between (3-14 meters) in the secondary roads also. It also showed the effect of the physical l and topographic factors in the study area in determining the directions of the roads. The political conditions also had a clear effect in changing the direction of some roads, especially the main street .The study recommended the nessisity of periodic maintenance of roads and upgrading their efficiency and speeding up the approval of the master plan for the city of 2017, building tunnels and bridges, paying more attention to public transport means, establishing roads, connecting roads and connections and transferring government institutions outside the city center to reduce of the daily and lonng traffic congestion.
