Abstract
This study is about the dramatic tendency phenomenon in the poetry of the Palestinian poet
Yusuf Al Khatib.
This study tries to reveal this phenomenon and how much it appears in Al Khatib’s poetry,
it also shows the connection between the phenomenon and the poet’s intellectual position
which he expresses through different dramatic members.
The importance of this study is that it deals with this artistic phenomenon in Al Khatib’s
poetry which hasn’t been studied independently before.
The study aims to observe the dramatic members in Al Khatib’s poetry and how much he
used the dramatic tendency and its parts in his work, events and its types, place and its
mental effect on the poet. Time and its importance for the poet and comparing past with
present characters and its role in moving the event and its relationship with the other parts,
conversation and conflict role in developing the event until the end.
The study depends on a descriptive integral manner. It includes an introduction, two parts
and a conclusion. First, introduction, it talks about Al Khatib’s life shortly and the most
important periods of his life. Secondly, first part, it studies the dramatic structure, its
definition, events, types, place and time. Thirdly, second part which studies characters
types, inside and outside conflict and dialogue types.
Finally, the conclusion which resulted to the clear appearance of dramatic tendency and its
members in Al Khatib’s poetry. He used it to epress his love and longing to his country,
the pain he feels because of being away from his country clearly in most of his work.
