Abstract

This study aimed to examine the citizenship values available among basic stage graders1_4 and its relationship to their social intelligence from the point view of their teachers in Palestine. It also investigated the effect of gender, qualification, and experience on these perceptions. The study employed a descriptive correlational methodology. The sample of the study consisted of (106) male and female teachers who were selected by the stratified method, representing (15%) of the total population (705 teachers) in Bethlehem governorate. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared two instruments, the first one is citizenship values available among basic stage graders from the point view of their teachers, and the second one is social intelligence among basic stage graders intelligence from the point view of their teachers’ questionnaire. Content validity and reliability were established for all instruments. The Findings of the study showed that the percentage of citizenship values available among basic stage graders from the point view of their teachers reached (74%) which is high. Moreover, there were no statistically significant differences in the citizenship values available among basic stage graders from the point view of their teachers due to gender, qualification, and experience. Regarding social intelligence, the findings showed that the degree of social intelligence among basic stage graders intelligence from the point view of their teachers reached (73.2%) which is moderate. The findings of the study also showed that there were no statistically differences at (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean social intelligence among basic stage graders intelligence from the point view of their teachers due to gender, qualification, and experience. The Finding of the study revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between the degrees of citizenship values and the degree and social intelligence, which means the more the degrees of citizenship values the more of the degrees of social intelligence and vice versa. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends conducting further studies on citizenship values and social intelligence in other regions of Palestine, using varied samples and additional variables. There is also a call to enhance teachers’ capacities through targeted training programs focusing on promoting citizenship values and involving teachers in shaping the school’s educational vision. The study emphasizes the importance of a safe and disciplined school environment that nurtures these values, alongside both material and moral incentives to motivate teachers. The researcher recommended the development of school curricula that enhance social intelligence among students in grades 1 to 4 through activities that foster positive interaction and social awareness. It was also recommended to provide a safe and disciplined school environment, in addition to offering both financial and moral support to teachers to strengthen their educational role. Key words: Citizenship values, basic stage graders, social intelligence, Palestinian teachers.
