This network is built of cross bar switch modules. Each module connects 32 computer nodes. Each node has two ports, one connects the node to the crossbar switch module and the other connects the node to a correspondent client node in another module through a shuffle link. The performance of this network is simulated under various network sizes, packet lengths and loads. The results are compared with those obtained from Macramé project for Clos multistage interconnection network and 2D-Grid network. The throughput of Penta-S falls between the throughput of Clos and the throughput of 2D-Grid networks. The maximum throughput of Penta-S was obtained at packet length of 128 bytes. Also the throughput grows linearly with the network size. On the opposite of Clos and 2D-Grid networks, the per-node throughput of Penta-S improves as the network size grows. The per-packet latency proved to be better than that of Clos network for large packet lengths and high loads. Also the packet latency proved to be nearly constant against various loads. The cost-efficiency of Penta-S proved to be better than those of 2D-Grid and Clos networks for large number of nodes (>200 nodes in the case of 2D-Grid and >350 nodes in the case of Clos).On the opposite of other networks, the cost-efficiency of Penta-S grows as its size grows. So this topology suits large networks and high traffic loads.

Since power conservation is a major aspect for mobile users, the thesis will try to explore several methods and techniques in order to evaluate the performance of algorithms with different data structure representations on the power consumption of Smartphone devices. In this thesis, we will control and administer the mobile application in such a way to get quantitative results and perform relevant analysis. We will present experiments that will measure the amount of power and CPU overhead; we will explore how changing the data structures for various algorithms with different time complexities could impact power consumption. Also this thesis will try to investigate other related topics that have impact on the battery device such as local/global variables, reusing objects, arrays versus sets and other factors. The thesis will record and analyze the experiments in terms of CPU cycles and battery consumption and their relation to the above mentioned case studies. The results shows that using different data structure representations on various algorithms (having different time complexities) have impact on power consumption and CPU overhead of Smartphone devices, the figures and the analysis shows the following: A- That algorithms having time complexity of n cube with its neutral case comes at the top most level of consuming battery life and the top level of CPU overhead. B- N square comes at the second level of consuming battery life and using CPU with the following ranking (high to low) of algorithms data structure representations: Data types adjustment as double -> linked list based algorithms -> array based algorithms. C- N LOG N comes at the third level of consuming battery life and using CPU with the following ranking (high to low) of algorithms data structure representations: Data types adjustment as double -> linked list based algorithms -> array based algorithms.

We use a normal form table to express the payoff for every client, every client has estimate time for execution and every server has speed, from these facts, we innovate a dynamic payoff matrix to evaluate a Nash equilibrium point and then determine which server can serve an appropriate client to achieve best load balancing which is called "server matching" (Each client is matched to exactly one server, but a server can be matched to multiple clients or none.). We use Netlogo simulation to implement this matching, besides a useful game theory oolset called GAMBIT (Gambit toolset homepage, 2005) to solve the payoff matrix and compute Nash equilibrium point. This paper was done between the years 2007 – 2009, and to know what was done in this paper we can argue that we contribute in accomplishing the load balancing between servers, using new technique depends on game theory perspective, for that reason we can answer the question why this thesis was done, because it is very vital in achieving this goal. We use in our thesis a simulation methodology to prove the results that we have obtained from the simulation program which is a Netlogo V4.0.2, and we compare the results with traditionally techniques in load balancing. Finally, the results show that we improve the performance for the whole system by 4% in achieving load balancing and overweight the possibilities of using this technique in real system around the world.
