The study aims to clearly explain the diplomatic immunity, which Islam approves of and allows to ambassadors and envoys to Islamic state. The study also dwells on the hospitality and reception of Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, toward envoys. Such kind reception persuaded many to convert to Islam or succumb to Islamic rule. The motive for the study is to defend Islam and Muslims against the accusations of murder and terrorism, including diplomatic terrorism. The study follows historical and analytical approach. It is assisted by modern as well as historic references that had previously discussed the issue of diplomatic terrorism. In Chapter One, the researcher defines the concept of terrorism and described the different types of terrorism. In Chapter Two, he describes the concept of diplomacy and its origin. In Chapter Three, he describes embassy and ambassador from a linguistic point of view, the characteristics of diplomats in Islam, and to whom diplomats were sent when Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, led the Muslims. In Chapter Four, he describes diplomatic immunity, which Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, bestowed upon the diplomatic missions and His practices concerning diplomatic immunity showing its characteristics and purposes and compared the way the Prophet, peace be upon him, respected the diplomatic envoys that were sent to Him and the way His diplomatic envoys were terrorized or even killed. The conclusion includes the most important findings of the study such as: • Previous nations sanctified ambassadors and envoys. • Islam approves of immunity and respect of ambassadors and envoys; however, Islam adds principles that are consistent with the nature of Islam as religion and mercy for all people of Earth. ز • Ambassador and envoys must be respected and protected in time of peace and conflict. They must not be terrorized and killed so that they could perform their duties. • Good treatment and respect of ambassadors and envoys is revered by Islam as well as by humanitarian values. • Islam takes precedence, compared to other nations, in diplomacy though such nations show pride in the making of the international laws and conventions. These nations’ diplomatic product is relatively recent since it is the making of the 10th Century; whereas, Islam created diplomacy 14 centuries ago. • Islam has organized and regulated relationships among nations. Islam was not built on the remains of other civilizations. It did not inherit ancient cultures. It is a new seed of life and unique way of life. The study contains a number of recommendations that the researcher would like to pass on to people especially to Muslims who are involved in diplomacy and want to follow suit the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him.
