| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to identify the role of organizations operating in the agricultural sector in Salfeet Governorate in multiplying the native seeds (Salfeet is considered as an important area for this type of seeds) by identifying the activities of these organizations in guiding and educating farmers to multiply these seeds, and apply laws and legislations to increase the spread of seeds among farmers, and highlighting the role of these organizations in seed multiplication through both financial and technical support, in addition to knowing its role in increasing the profit of farmers by finding marketing channels for native seeds from the farmers’ point of view in Salfeet Governorate. The sample of the study consists of farmers interested in the cultivation of native seeds in the governorate of Salfeet, (370) farmers and farmers. A survey was constructed from (32) paragraphs and was distributed to a one-hundred sample of farmers in the governorate of Salfeet randomly selected using the sampling website www.surveysystem.com, four villages concerned with the cultivation of native seeds were selected in the area. The analytical descriptive method was used to extract the results of the research using the survey as a research tool for data collection, which included (32) paragraphs distributed on four axes with regard to native seeds, these axes were: agricultural extension, laws and legislations, support from organizations working in the agricultural sector, and marketing, as well as questions related to propagation and seed conservation. The study concluded with the great role played by the organizations working in the agricultural sector in Salfeet governorate in terms of agricultural extension in general, especially in rain fed agriculture, including native seeds, as well as using agricultural media such as brochures and others to provide farmers with instructions on the native seeds of vegetables. As well as holding meetings about the theme of native vegetable seeds. As for the farmers' knowledge of the laws and legislations of native seeds, this axis has received a very low degree due to the lack of concentration of all governmental ط and non-governmental institutions to educate the farmers producing native vegetable seeds about the laws and legislations issued by official bodies, in addition to the lack of pamphlets or brochures at these institutions explaining the laws and legislation that the farmer can refer to and benefit from them. As for the support, this axis has received a medium degree approval, due to the presence of several governmental and non-governmental institutions that communicate with native vegetable seed farmers and provide various forms of support, including financial, moral, logistical and other support. However, this is not enough and does not reach all the farmers in the region, but benefit from this support a small group of farmers. As for the marketing axis, it has also obtained a medium degree of approval. The reason is that the farmers in Salfeet Governorate in general and in the study area in particular do not participate in all the agricultural exhibitions and festivals held on the homeland and do not participate at all in exhibitions outside the country. But, in the same time, they do participate in the training courses organized by the agricultural institutions and this is the result of holding meetings and training courses for farmers in various agricultural topics in general and marketing matters in particular by the Ministry of Agriculture represented by the Directorate of Cultivation Salfeet. But it is not among the policy and objectives of the Ministry of Agriculture to buy seeds for farmers. Its role is only to help open the internal and external markets to promote these products by the farmers themselves. The study has produced several recommendations, the most important of which is the need for more attention by the organizations operating in the agricultural sector to clarify the legal matters, legislation and regulations pertaining to native seeds, where it was found that the farmers in the study area have no information on these topics and their importance to preserve this national heritage of native seeds, As well as the need to expedite the strengthening of the role of the National Bank for the conservation of native seeds by the Ministry of Agriculture in order to preserve these seeds from extinction, as well as to preserve the rights of farmers producing these seeds. | en |
