dc.description.abstractThe study aimed at recognizing the reality of the choice standards for school principals at the public and private schools in Bethlehem governorate, and methods to develop them from educational supervisors and school principals, and to investigate the statistical significant differences between the samples’ responses due to their personal characteristics, to achieve these objectives, quantitative method was applied, where a questionnaire had been designed and distributed to educational supervisors and school principals at public and private schools in Bethlehem, the study tool had proved its reliability and availability. The findings showed that there was a high degree of the reality of the choice standards for school principals at the public and private school at Bethlehem governorate and methods to develop them from educational supervisors and school principals, where these standards came at the following order (personal characteristics’ standards for new principals, test standard for new principals, standard of personal training “practical and theoretical” for new principals, educational qualification standard for new principal), it also found that there were no statistical significant difference between respondents toward the reality of choice standard of private and public school principals at Bethlehem governorate from their point of view due to their (job level, gender, years of experience, educational qualification), and there is a statistical significant differences due to the supervisory authority, in favor of private schools. The study recommended to raise years of experience and accreditation age of the new principals, in addition to include the achievement profile community sharing and its institutes, and to give higher priority for personal characteristics for the new principals, especially his/her ability for self-control, effective communication, and the ability to influence and persuade the others.
