A single-center retrospective study analyzing clinical characteristics, treatment approaches, and recurrence rates in laryngotracheal stenosis patients, highlighting the effectiveness and limitations of endoscopic balloon dilatation and the importance of long-term multidisciplinary follow-up.
This retrospective cross-sectional study evaluated the clinical features, management strategies, and outcomes of 29 patients with laryngotracheal stenosis treated over a five-year period at a tertiary referral center. Most patients were managed with endoscopic balloon dilatation, while a smaller proportion required open surgical procedures. Prolonged orotracheal intubation was the most common etiology, and the subglottic region was the most frequently affected site. Restenosis occurred in more than half of cases, emphasizing the need for long-term follow-up. The study demonstrates that endoscopic management remains the preferred initial approach, although recurrence remains a major clinical challenge.
