Abstract
This study aims at revealing the most outstanding qualities and motivations of the personality of the martyrdom bombers according to the point view of their families (fathers, mothers, and brothers).
It also aims at finding out the qualities and motivations of the martyrdom bombers personality which refer to the economical, social situation, age, scientific qualification, political belonging, place of living, and the order among the brothers. Therefore, this study is prepared during the second half of the year 2005, and the sample is of 173 family chosen in random. The scholar used the questionnaire and the content analysis to reach the study goals. The scholar used the following methods to analyze results: calculating the percentages, mathematical averages, normative deviation, Berson test, constancy equation according to Cronbakh Alfa.
The scholar has found out the following results:
1. One of the most outstanding qualities of the martyrdom bombers is that he was known of sacrifice and unselfishness, then he was also known of being humble, fulfills what he says, and he was always connected to God, obeys what He says, far away of His prohibitions. He was also knows of being loyal to his work.
However, they are not being described as users of drugs, and they did not suffer from psychological problems that require a psychologist. He had never thought of leaving the family, nor he interprets things wrongly. Besides he had never afraid of being diseased of serious diseases, cancer for example.
2. The most obvious motivations of martyrdom operations:
The occupation policy against the Palestinian people. The motivation is just religious. The desire of liberating the occupied homeland of the occupiers. The revolution of dignity and pride of the Palestinian people which has been insulted and destroyed constantly. The sacrifice of good living for his\her people after him\her.
The study proved that the following motivations have no influence, and are not of these that stand beyond the martyrdom operations:
family disjunction of the martyrdom bombers’ life. Lack of emotional satisfaction. the expiations of sins as being a spy to the occupiers. Suffering from permanent disease. And getting rid of life because of psychological or social problems.
3. There is no relationship to the statistical connection among the answers of the relatives of martyrdom bombers between the characteristic personality and its motivations of carrying out martyrdom operations.
The study recommends to make more researches in the field of characteristics and motivations of the martyrdom bomber personality, studying the contemporary Palestinian characteristic, studying the characteristics and motivations of Palestinian prisoners, and studying the psychological effects to the occupations practices on the Palestinian character. Besides, it recommends to plan and to support the social and psychological guidance programs in Palestine, activation of media in the youth issues, encouraging investigation for the youth group, and to study the characteristics of the martyrdom bomber parents
