| dc.description.abstract | The study aimed to reveal the challenges that face the empowerment of Jerusalemite women in an unfavorable family environment. The study also revealed the structural economic, social and cultural challenges that limit the empowerment of Jerusalemite women. The study also contributed to finding the methods and mechanisms for facing these challenges by Jerusalemite women, in addition to identifying the reflection of the impact of empowerment on women's ability to take decisions and to control matters in their lives. The researcher used the qualitative approach in order to understand and explain the nature of the studied problem. The “in-depth interview” was chosen as a tool for the study, by designing a “codified” orienting form containing the main questions and their branches that the researcher used in guiding the interviews, controlling and summarizing the answers of ten Jerusalemite women about their ability to empower themselves despite the difficult family environment they faced. Four of the women were also interviewed. Workers at the administrative levels in Jerusalem institutions that work directly in empowering Jerusalemite women. The study reached the following results: women face many challenges from their families when they seek to join the empowerment programs and projects offered by the institutions for women in Jerusalem. Women were able to overcome the challenges and difficulties they faced during their path of empowerment with different ways and mechanisms. | en |
