dc.description.abstractThis study was conducted between July 2012 and September 2014, and aimed to assess the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) programs in Palestine. This evaluation was accomplished through identifying and assessing the views of the respondents in the strategic areas of the ILO intervention, which focus on the following themes: Job creation, expansion of social protection, the promotion of social dialogue, and ensuring respect for rights at work. In addition, the study tried to determine the extent of the impact of the demographic characteristics of the respondents’ on their answers. The descriptive analytical approach was used and a questionnaire was designed to target a stratified sample from the tripartite parties in Palestine (the public sector, Employers, Trade Unions). 198 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The results showed that the views of the respondents and their attitudes towards the role of ILO programs in the development of the labor sector in Palestine (job creation, expansion of social protection, the promotion of social dialogue, ensuring respect for rights at work) were highly positive. Among the most important recommendations made by the study were the necessity to expand the activities of the ILO office in Jerusalem, and approve projects that promote the work of the partnership and cooperation between the tripartite parties in order to develop the labor sector in Palestine. These included: encouraging women entrepreneurs access to better resources and markets, facilitating young people's transition from school to the labor market, increasing the institutional capacity of local service providers in order to provide business development services to the population, contributing to the development of a new legislative framework, improving the administrative capacity of the Palestinian Federation of Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural Chambers, providing direction and guidance to bridge the gap between supply and demand for skills in the labor market, and actively contributing to the social and economic deven
