Abstract
Abstract The study aimed to identify the role of civil society organizations in integrating men to reduce gender discrimination. The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach (quantitative and qualitative), where she applied the questionnaire to (377) men in the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates who were randomly selected. An interview was conducted with a focus group consisting of (17) men in the age group between 20-55 years who were involved in activities with civil society organizations in the Bethlehem and Hebron governorates, divided into two groups who were selected intentionally. As for individual interviews, they were conducted with (4) directors of local community institutions who were selected intentionally. The results showed that, from the perspective of men in the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates, the role of civil society organizations in integrating men to reduce gender discrimination was moderate. The most important indicators of the role of civil society organizations in integrating men to reduce gender discrimination were: (The importance of integrating men in reducing gender discrimination), followed by (The methodologies and tools through which civil society organizations have integrated men to reduce gender discrimination), and the least significant was (The role of civil society organizations in reducing gender discrimination). The level of obstacles and challenges facing civil society organizations in the methodology of integrating men to reduce gender discrimination, from the perspective of men in the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates, was moderate. The most important obstacles and challenges facing civil society organizations in the methodology of integrating men to reduce gender discrimination, from the perspective of men in the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates, were: (I believe that society lacks sufficient awareness of the importance of integrating men to reduce gender discrimination), followed by (I believe that civil society organizations face resistance from some segments of society regarding men's participation in reducing gender discrimination). There were no differences between the averages of the role of civil society organizations in integrating men to reduce gender discrimination, attributable to variables (age, marital status, educational qualifications, monthly income level, and place of residence). However, there were differences based on the governorate variable, in favor of men in the Hebron Governorate. The results also showed no differences between the averages of the obstacles and challenges facing civil society organizations in their approach to integrating men to reduce gender discrimination, attributable to variables (age, marital status, educational qualifications, monthly income level, and place of residence). However, there were differences based on the governorate variable, in favor of men in the Hebron Governorate. The results also showed that civil society organizations are playing an increasingly important role in supporting men to address gender discrimination, although the focus remains greater on supporting women. Participants indicated a positive impact of these organizations in promoting men's inclusion through workshops and innovative initiatives. However, men face challenges such as the lack of safe spaces to discuss their issues. The organizations' vision reflects their commitment to reducing discrimination by providing equal services and empowering women, while engaging men in equality issues. The results of the men's integration experiment have been positive, but they face challenges such as prevailing norms and a lack of funding. To overcome these challenges, the organizations recommend developing programs targeted at men and strengthening collaboration with local communities, which contribute to achieving sustainable results in gender equality.
