Abstract
This study aimed to identify the direct and indirect reasons for the Tunisian revolution, and
to introduce the reader to the political and social dimensions of this revolution. The
researcher used in this study the descriptive analytical method and the historical method, to
analyzed data, and statements, as well as articles and reports about the revolution. This
study discusses mainly the events of the Tunisian revolution since its inception in the
2011-2013 year. The study found an overall conclusion which is that the Tunisian
revolution came spontaneously, in order to correct the political process in Tunisia. This
was attempted to be achieved through protesting over the political and social situation that
the former regime (Zine El Abidine Ben Ali regime) imposed on the Tunisian state through
its ruling. This situation led to a lack of employment opportunities, increased
unemployment, and a slow downed production in Tunisia, in which all these factors led to
the revolution.
The study also found that the revolution largely succeeded in reaching its goals, which is
promoting opportunities for economic growth, increasing employment and reducing
unemployment. Also, it allowed freedom of opinion and expression, political participation
of the efficiency of the political parties, and a promotion in the values of citizenship.
The study found that the political and social situation in Tunisia are moving toward
consistency and stability, and promoting opportunities for growth after the agreement on
the devolution of power between the Tunisian parties and giving the Tunisian people a real
role in the election. This movement of the political and social situation could lead in the
future to promote the economic and social growth, increase production, and increase
employment opportunities
