dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to identify the need to establish an independent monitoring authority for food in Gaza Strip and come up with a proposal to establish independent monitoring authority for food. The study used the descriptive analytical and structural approach to suit the nature of this study, the questionnaire was used as a study tool and the study sample consisted of (51) employees works as (Head of Department - General Manager) at the institutions aspecialized in food control and supervision in Gaza Strip: (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Local Government, Authority of Standards and Metrology). After data collection it was treated statistically using the Statistical Package for Statistical Sciences (SPSS) program. The main results were: The existence of many obstacles facing the control system in Gaza Strip, the absence of a supreme governmental structure to unify the work of the various regulatory bodies, disproportionate control capabilities for food with the actual needs for work and poor coordination between the different regulators on food. In addition that if an independent monitoring authority for food is established all food safety and control requirements will be achieved in all phases of its handling also by analyzing the results and problems which facing regulatory bodies a suggested proposed was designed includes: (starting points, philosophy, objectives and requirements for the establishment of the body organizational structure) to solve all of these problems. The most important recommendations were: In addition to the suggested proposed the resecher recommended The need to unify the food safety law in Palestine. The need to provide a general proposed vision on the importance of establishing an independent food agency for decision makers and policy makers and needs in addition to coordination with all concerned parties (civil society organization and private sector) to clarify the importance of establishment an independent monitoring authority for food in Gaza Strip through a series of workshops on the idea of establishing the an independent monitoring authority for food under the umbrella of the Palestinian Council of Ministers after reviewing and benefit from international experiences.en
