Abstract
The purpose of study was to identify the impact of entrepreneurship on economic growth in the West Bank during the period between the first quarter of 2011 to the second quarter of 2019, by examining the indicators that reflect the entrepreneurship represented by self-employment, startups/ new company, innovation and its impact on economic growth. Both descriptive and empirical approaches are adopted in this study, Time series were used by monitoring quarterly data representing entrepreneurship and economic growth for the period mentioned above. For this purpose, the experimental analysis method was used by using the regression analysis model. The Social Science Program (SPSS) was used to analyze the data and reach the results of the study, in addition to the use of multiple regression coefficient. The study reached to several results that may benefit the Palestinian decision-maker and researchers, where the results of the study indicated a positive and statistically significant relationship between entrepreneurship represented by (Self-employment index) and economic growth, while showed an inverse relationship between entrepreneurship Represented by (the number of patents) and economic growth, and the results also denied the existence of a relationship between the entrepreneurship represented by (the number of new / startups) and economic growth. Based on the study results, the study find that the Palestinian political reality at the internal and external levels imposed its effects on the entrepreneurship and growth trends and incentives in the West Bank, and that the impact of entrepreneurship also differs if the state is independent or occupied; This indicates the negative impact of the Israel occupation on the economic situation. Besides, there is a need for more significant efforts by government and private institutions to promote and support self-employment, startups/new businesses and innovation in the Palestinian territories.
