Abstract
The title of this study is, “Unity of Nation – a purposeful and foundational study”. It consists of an introduction, a preface and three chapters. The introduction states the study methodology, problems, motives, reasons, literature and outline. In the preface, the study addresses the keen
compliance of the Sharia to preserve the interests of the worshippers as well as the significance of the Islamic nation to achieve its dignity and to apply religious teachings and rituals.
The first chapter tackles the history of the science of Al Maqasid (Purposes of Islam), its inception and documentation as well as key scholars in this discipline. The chapter explains the method of extracting and vindicating the purpose. The differences between indecisive and decisive purposes and judgment whether this purpose is indecisive or decisive (absolute) are also addressed in this chapter. It also identifies public purposes and goals of the Islamic Sharia.
The second chapter defines and vindicates the purpose of the unity of the nation by means of both deduction and inference of Sharia regulations and texts to achieve the direct notion of the unity or the causes leading to it. More than twenty five religious excerpts and prophetic citations were reviewed. This chapter also studies several rulings and regulations at the levels of morals or transactions whose causes lead to the notion of unity.
The third chapter titled, “The impact of Sharia on achieving the goal of unity”, addressed the impact of religious mainstream categories on the unity of the nation namely, doctrine, worships, transactions and morals.
The study made the following recommendations:
Unity of the nation is one of the goals of the Islamic Sharia.
Unity of the nation is a decisive and absolute purpose.
Unity of the nation is a public purpose.
All aspects of the Islamic seeks directly to achieve the goal of the unity of the nation and advocates its fulfillment.
Based on these outcomes, the study recommends that each individual hold his/her right position and responsibilities to fulfill unity among the followers of the Islamic nation.
