Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the content of Chemistry textbooks for tenth, eleventh and twelfth scientific stream in Palestine in light ofNext Generation Science Standards (NGSS).The study used the analytical descriptive method. The researcher developed a list of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) by referring to the related references. The validity and reliability of the list were confirmed. The study sample was consisted of the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade Chemistry textbooks 2019-2020 edition. The results of this study showed the availability of (NGSS) in the content of Chemistry books with varying percentages which came between weak and medium. The repetition of (NGSS) in the content of tenth grade Chemistry textbooksPart I and Part II (1082) times, distributed as follows: Scientific and engineering practices (56%), overall then the content of the tenth-grade book. While the comprehensive concepts (25%) and the criterion of specialized ideas (19%). هWhile the repetition of (NGSS) in the content of eleventh grade Chemistry textbooks Part I and Part II (2139) times, distributed as follows: Scientific and engineering practices (45%), overallthen the content of the tenth-grade book. While thecomprehensive concepts (36%) and the criterion of specialized ideas (19%). Whereas the repetition of (NGSS) in the content of twelfth grade Chemistry textbooks Part I and Part II (1713) times, distributed as follows: Scientific and engineering practices (42.8%), overall then the content of the tenth-grade book. While the comprehensive concepts (35.8%) and the core ideas (20.4%). The results of study also showed that the standard of scientific and engineering practices ranked first across textbooks with a frequency of (2321) with percentage (47%). While the comprehensive concepts standard occupied the second rank with a frequency of (1652) with percentage (33.4%). As for the criterion of specialized ideas it ranked third by frequency of (961) with percentage of (19.4%). The study has come with some recommended: To develop and enrich the Chemistry curriculum for the senior secondary level in the light of Next Generation Science Standards. To take into account the need to distribute the (NGSS) in balance in the content of Chemistry books in terms ofthe standards of scientific and engineering practices, overall concepts and criterion of specialized ideas, and conducting other studies similar to designing units according to these standards and applying them and statement of its impact on student achievement
