dc.description.abstractThe study seeks to identify the level of which Green Human Resource Management (HRM) practices are applied and its impact on institutional performance in the Palestinian public sector. The global increase in environmental pollution resulting from human practices requires broad attention to include the concept of green human resource management within the governmental strategic plans, sectorial plans and activities. This is necessary to enhance public institutional performance. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a descriptive analytical approach was used, whereby the study population consisted of workers in the Human Resources Department in institutions of the Palestinian public sector and a intentional sample was used. The questionnaire was distributed among 130 members of the study’s population. A total of 123 questionnaires were retrieved with a response rate of 95%. The results of the study found that there is a moderate relationship between green human resource management practices and institutional performance in the Palestinian public sector institutions. The study also found that there is a medium degree of application of green human resource management practices in all its dimensions (energy conservation, green selection and appointment, green capacity building and development, green employee performance evaluation, green rewards green compensation to programs) in the Palestinian public sector institutions. The study also showed the effect of a number of demographic variables on green human resource management practices and on institutional performance. The study came out with a set of recommendations, most importantly is the need to take into account environmental issues and standards in human resource management practices in Palestinian public sector institutions, especially those which have an impact on institutional performance. Another recommendation is the need to mainstream the environmental culture among public servants in terms of applications of practices that highlight the importance of preserving the environment and the sustainability of natural resources in the work environment.
