Abstract
This research is an attempt to 'fill in' certain gaps related to Palestinian
antipathy towards United States of America. The main concerns of this
research is to explore the motives behind Palestinian antipathy towards United
States of America, and identifying the factors which has affected the Arab
view towards America. The research investigates the possible methods for
regaining the balanced relations between Arabs including Palestinians in one
hand and the United States of America on the other hand. Moreover, the study
investigate the effects of certain demographic variables including gender,
academic qualification, career and age on the antipathy of Arabs as well as
Palestinians towards America.
The research attempted to point out the major "hidden" reasons behind such
negative typical view and the enmity of Palestinians and Arabs towards the
United States of America. The study has explored the role of the American
foreign policy towards the Palestinian cause in Particular and the Arab issues
in general, and the effect of the American enmity towards Islam and Muslims
in the raise of this enmity, the study suggested certain methods to improve the
Arab and Palestinian attitudes towards America.
The sample of the study consisted of the West Bank, Palestinian adults who
are above 18 . A sample of 300 citizen was randomly chosen, in which the
researcher has designed a questioner which consist of 45 items, and the
statistical packages of social sciences(SPSS) has been utilized for data
analysis.
The researcher has come up with the following major results:
The total responses' score of the sample of the study was high in relation to
US attitudes towards the war against terror domain, the war against Iraq and
Afghanistan, and the US position concerning Islam, Muslims and the
Palestinian cause domain, and the Arab and Palestinian view towards Us
domain as it was(86%).
The American Administration should be neutral concerning the Palestinian
Israeli conflict, and it has to spare no efforts to reach to an accepted final
settlement for the dispute without being partial to the Israeli side. Besides, the
researcher recommended to provide the economic and political support to the
Arab world by the American administration in order to be developed.
Moreover the American Administration should recognize the Palestinian
resistance organizations, and not to consider the a terrorist organization, in
addition to the necessity to create a youth forum between the Palestinian and American youth which shall enable both of them to get to know each other
closely. Finally the researcher recommended the necessity to make an
academic integration including the American Studies at Al Quds and Al
Najah Universities with the aim to bridge the relation of knowledge and
mutual understanding between the two nations, and to sponsor the process of
the circulation of books and prints in Arabic which reflects the ideal
experiment of the Americans.
