Abstract
This study was performed in Ramallah in the period 2010-2011. The main purpose of this study is to recognize and clarify the nature and the development of the political ideology of the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazin) from 1964 until his going to the United Nations in September/2011. His political ideology is based on the peaceful solution of the Palestinian cause according to the resolutions of the international legitimacy numbers are 194, 338, and 242; besides depending on the negotiations as a strategy for obtaining the rights of the Palestinian people. It can be summarized in the creation of independent Palestinian state with complete sovereignty and its capital is Jerusalem over 22% of the lands of historical Palestine, the return of the Palestinian refugees from Diaspora to their homes, the release of the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails, and the absolute rejection of recognizing “the Jewish State”. The study aims to describe and clarify the mechanisms and steps that President Abu Mazin has followed in order to achieve this ideology, and the extent of the contribution of this ideology in achieving the rights of the Palestinian people through answering the main question of the study which is: (What is the political ideology and its tools of Mahmoud Abbas towards the conflict with Israel?).
