Abstract
Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects many people around the world. It happens when the level of glucose in the blood becomes higher than normal because of a problem with insulin. This problem can be either low insulin production or the body not responding to insulin in the correct way. There are two main types of diabetes. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the beta cells in the pancreas. Because of that, the patient cannot produce insulin and needs insulin injections for life. This type is less common. Type 2 diabetes is more common and usually affects adults. It may happen because of insulin resistance, or sometimes because the body does not produce enough insulin. Factors like obesity, lack of physical activity, and unhealthy lifestyle can increase the risk. Controlling blood sugar is important to reduce complications. High blood glucose may affect different body parameters, including blood cells and lipid levels. In this study, we want to examine the relationship between blood glucose level and some hematological parameters (RBC, WBC, and platelets) in addition to lipid profile in Palestinian women with type 2 diabetes in Hebron. We focused on women because hormonal and physiological changes may influence glucose and lipid levels.
