As it is the trend worldwide, Palestine is expected to experience significant changes in demographics over the upcoming few decades, with the percentage of elderly people aged above 65 anticipated to increase in the years ahead. This necessitates concerted efforts to achieve a better understanding of geriatric care and to establish infrastructure of medical professionals and facilities qualified to deal with this vulnerable population. Given the lack of specialized training in geriatric care in medical schools and the absence of geriatric specialty programs in Palestine, assessing healthcare providers’ knowledge and awareness of normal aging and geriatric syndromes would be a very appropriate initial step to direct such efforts.
