It is primarily caused by persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) and is largely preventable through vaccination and early screening. Despite the availability of effective screening methods such as the Pap smear test, many cases are still diagnosed at advanced stages due to the asymptomatic nature of early disease. In Palestine, cervical cancer is among the most common cancers affecting women, with relatively low incidence but concerning mortality rates. Limited access to screening services, low awareness, and sociocultural barriers contribute to reduced uptake of preventive practices.
