Abstract
The study aimed at identifying the Palestinian woman participation in the Hamas movement through her role in raising children and her social, political and the Jihad participation. The researcher used the descriptive method through analyzing the content of data, covenants, and speeches to discuss the study problem and to answer its questions. For that purpose, the researcher demonstrated the study period of time which started from 1987, the breakthrough of Hamas which came into light as a political movement during the first intifada in 1987. The study came to many conclusions. The most prominent one was that Hamas movement polarized women from the very beginning of its establishment through mosques, schools, universities, charitable societies, the Zakah committees and helped the poor and the needy. In addition, it concerned to involve women in the leadership levels of the movement. The woman graded in a modest participation into the posts of the movement from an ordinary member till the advisory council. The women also took part in making decisions in regard to the local elections. Her existence was represented as a voter and a candidate and gave her a popular strength that helped her in the mission of call to Allah and the movement’s objectives. The woman in the Hamas movement participated in the legislative elections as a voter and a candidate. She managed to reach the government supreme departments and took part in all the Jihad levels. She contributed in providing the chased resisters with food. The woman participation was also prominent in the marches and the demonstrations and was arrested and detained. The peak of the woman’s participation in the Hamas movement was in executing the martyrdom operations. The study recommended the necessity to conduct more studies and researches about the women’s role in the Islamic movements and the role of the women in the Palestinian struggle in general due to the shortage of the studies that dealt with that subject and mainly in the political Islamic movements.
