Abstract
This study discusses the arabicized expressions in “Assehah lexicon for Al-Jawhari” and it clarifies the ambiguous meanings through several sources. It also, shows the linguistic origins of the expressions with mentioning their non-Arab connotation. Hence, the researcher classified the arabicized expressions according to the subjects, then she classifieds them according to the classification of the letters in the lexicon. The researcher thanks Dr. Hussein Daraweesh, who advised her to write this research and his advice was the main reason for choosing this topic in particular. There are another reasons for choosing the topic such as: to know more about the arabicized expressions which Assehah lexicon for Al-Jawhari contains, to recognize the most important arabicization methods which was adopted by the philologist and to disclose the ingenuity of Imam Ismael bin Hammad Al-Jawhari in arabicization as the later was one of the main reasons for choosing this topic . The researcher followed an integral method in this study. The main method that she followed in tackling the arabiczation phenomenon of A L-Jawhari is the linguistic methods, then the statistical method which she used for counting the languages that AJawhari arabicized from, and counting the arabicized words mentioned in Assehah lexicon. Moreover, the researcher followed the classification method which she used in classifying the arabicized materials in which she classified them into two sections. The first one is the physical materials which is specialized with nature, animals, metals, area and weight. The second one is the Incorporeal materials which is specialized with religion, human, parties and sects. Finally, she followed the analytical method in which she analyzed the arabicized materials, showed their linguistic origins and clarified their meanings . The results: The results show that the arabicized expressions are not less Eloquence or rhetoric than the originally Arabic expressions. However, these expressions are arabicized and they follow the rules of Arabic language. Moreover, Arabic language regulate the expressions in terms of the phonetics, morphology, structure and grammar in order to cope with it. Hence, they become included within the Arabic expressions that can be used easily . The stipulated rules for the non-Arabic expression are various in which Al-Jawhari was at times mentioning the non-Arabic linguistic origin of the word and that it is arabicized with mentioning the original language such as Persian , Nabataean or Hebrew or any other language. At another times he was just mentioning the word without its origin . Assehah lexicon also has non-Arabic expression in which Al-Jawhari did not mention that they are arabicized. The arabicized expressions are varied in Assehah and their meanings also varied .Thus, they included names and descriptions of things, places, foods, animal, plant, and others. The study revealed a sound scientific approach for Al-jawhari which fits the arabicization of the non-Arabic expressions at this time and which benefits the Philologists and the experts who arabicized words . It is worth mentioning that I put results of the study in the Conclusion.(1)
