Abstract
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon Prophet
Mohammad, the Imam of scholars and Allah'
s messengers, as well as upon
those who follow him till the Day of Judgment.
This research investigates the art of the narrative technique in the Prophet's
Hadith (sayings). It analyzes it literary and addresses its artistic
characteristics. It, further, draws on the elements of the narrative, its
artistic structure and how they are related to Islamic values in a way that it
conveys the message assigned to it.
Throughout the whole research, the researcher found no comprehensive
studies on the topic of the Hadith narrative similar to those performed on
the narratives of the Holy Qur',an , with artistic and literary analysis .
Despite the fact that there are some publications like Al-Bayan AlMohammadi
( The Prophet Eloquence ) and Al-Tassweer Al- Fanni Fi AlHadith
Al-Nabawi ( Artistic Picturing in Hadith ), yet these books are of less
significance in terms the artistic and literary aspects of the Hadith
narrative.
The researcher followed the analytical method in throughout the study. He
examined the approved Hadiths and classified them in terms of their
subjects. He introduceds each narrative and studies artistically and
literarily. He also studied those aspects that reveal its creativity and the art
characterizing it. He explained how the art of the narrative serves the
legislative, educational and instructional aspects of the message of the
Prophet . In this context, it is clear that the Hadith narrative has a start, a
sequence and of the events and an end which are implied within it , despite
the length of its words , their number and the space they cover . It should be
pointed out that these are different from those of modern narrative .
The study findings can be summarized in the following:
1- The subject and its characteristics :
The subject or the message of the narrative is a core element in it; it is its
spirit and source of life.
2- Realism and truthfulness :
Realism here means that the Hadith narrative doesn'
t opt for
imagination and fancy in selecting its subject.

It also means that the Hadith narrative thoroughly describes the human
reality including the good and evil sides.
In summary, the study revealed that the Hadith narrative is creative in
its method and objectives. This is because it is the words of the Prophet
who is the most eloquent among humanity. Further, the Hadith narrative
is thematic in its approach to direct both the heart and brain to do the
good for the benefit of the individual and the society, all this is performed
in a high elevated literary style .
