Abstract
This study aims to show the greatness of the Holy Quran through showing the compatibility of the Holy Quran with the scientific explanation of the astronomical phenomena in the cosmos, an approach different than showing the miracles of the Holy Quran through its rhetoric miracles as well as the Sharia rules it provides. Eventually, this would constitute evidence on the miracles of the Holy Quran while encouraging thoughtfulness, particularly for those who believe in science and the scientific proofs. To accomplish this goal, the study delves into the meanings and explanations of the term “Heaven” and the Holly scripts and Quranic phrases that are linked to this term. In which an interpretation of the Holly Qurnaic scripts is provided by returning to the main references of exegesis (Tafsir) as well as the original references in both the Arabic language and Sunnah. Therefore, this thesis aims to: First, crystallize the Quranic interpretation regarding the astronomical and natural phenomena in the cosmos, which the Holly Quranic script reveals in smooth and simple style. Second, stating of the scientific explanations for the similar astronomical and natural phenomena in the Quran. Third, providing a comparison between the explanation of astronomical and natural phenomena in science as explained in scientific theories and the script of the Holy Quran. Fourth, draw conclusions on the compatibility and coherence between the meanings of the script in the Holy Quran and the scientific explanations and facts. The study concludes that there are consensus between the natural and scientific phenomena and the presentation and interpretation of the Holy Quran to these phenomena and scientific facts. The study also shows that delving into the meanings of the Arabic language and the exegesis of the Holy Quran regarding the term “Heaven” and its related terms is crucial for clarifying these terms in the Holy Quran and compiling all their meaning for people. Further, the study demonstrates how easy it is to show the extent of congruence and similarity of the scientific facts between the Holy Quran and the scientific theories regarding similar astronomical and scientific phenomena of the term “Heaven” and its connected terms in the Holy Quran. Meanwhile, the study shows that the comparison analysis for the natural and scientific phenomena in the Holy Quran and the scientific facts does not necessarily intended to seek evidence that confirms that the Holy Quran is the Words of God, as miracles of the Holly Quran are obvious for all human beings throughout the ages. However, the study intended to highlight these signals and indicators for the call for Islam (Da’awa). Based on the conclusions of this study, this research may spark and encourages researchers to carry out deeper and more inclusive researches in this topic, particularly on the comparison the script of the Holy Quran and the scientific facts, indeed there is no dispute between the explicit knowledge in the Holy script in Quran and the explicit knowledge of the scientific facts. Eventually, this serves the understanding of the Holy Quran because the self-motivation of researchers is continuous, and the extraction of the treasures of this book is ongoing, while the need for scholars in explaining and interpreting this Holy script remains exigent until the Day of Judgment
