Abstract
The Palestinian Woman's Struggling in Comparison study between First Intifada (Uprising) 1987 and Second Intifada (Uprising] 2000 In Ramallah and al-Bereh District The Palestinian Woman has played an important role in society in all aspects of life. Her role in the national resistance movement might be a distinctive role, especially in the First Popular Intifada, 1987. But this role has somewhat regressed in the Second Intifada, 2000. Therefore, the researcher conducted this study in 2008/2009 to examine the transformations on the woman's role in national, social and economic struggle in both Intifadas. The problem of the study is summarized in the following major question: What role has the Palestinian Woman Played in the First Intifada (Stone Intifada) in 1987 and the Second Intifada (AlAqsa Intifada) in 2000? The study aims at making a comparison between the role of the woman in the First Intifada in 1987 and in the Second Intifada in 2000, and to explore the woman's struggle and reality in both Intifadas; and then chronicling and documenting the woman's struggles. The research was limited to women's community in Ramallah and AlBerah Governorate. An intentional sample of 18 women was selected from women who lived during both Intifadas and played a role in them. The members of this sample represent the city, village and camp. Despite great proximity in the social and cultural situation of the Palestinian Researchers, the researcher viewed that the sample should be of various social positions including economic and social level of the studied women. This study depended on quality and not on quantity. The most important results which the researcher reached are summarized as follows: Woman's participation in the Palestinian Resistance Movement is distinctive through history, but she was more active and effective in First Intifada in 1987. She more seriously dealt with matters. The Forms of woman's confrontation with the occupation were numerous such as: women demonstrations and resisting the Israeli occupation in Ramallah and al Berah But in the Second Intifada, 2000 women's contributions in national straggles regressed with militarization of Intifada and using weapons, dividing places as A, B, C but women initiated with protesting against constructing the apartheid wall on their lands. They organized themselves in groups and committees in Palestinian cities, villages and camps and made protest marches, sitting down and demonstrations.
