Abstract
My dissertation is an investigation of the twenty fifth volume of the Al Tathkira As Salahiya “As Safadiya Compilation” by Salah Ad Din Khalil Ibn Aybak As Safadi (died 764 AH.). Perhaps the most important reason that motivated me to study this volume is the good reputation it enjoys as well as the fact that it consists of a number of valuable and novel subjects for scholars. The historical chronological method was adopted to introduce personalities mentioned in the manuscript and the analytical method was used to discuss the subjects of the compilation. Praise be to God, the study has several findings most important of which are determination of the precise significance of the compilation as well as the identification of the form of correspondence between As Safadi and the surrounding community. As Safadi documented and dated these correspondences, so they have become a chronicler of historical events of that time. I have recommended that more investigators and scholars study the other volumes of this compilation
